2010 RATING REVALUATION

 

Business ratepayers will currently be receiving notification from The Valuation Office Agency of their 2010 Rateable Value(s) together with a breakdown of the valuation giving rise to the new assessment for rating purposes.

 

Unless the summary of the rating valuation giving rise to the 2010 Rateable Value is materially incorrect (e.g. it relates to Second and Third Floor Offices when the ratepayer occupies and leases only the Second Floor Offices) then there is no need to take any action before the 1st April 2010. Thereafter, however, the 2010 Rateable Value is open to appeal.

 

National Non Domestic Rates, or Business Rates, is a tax based on the occupation of your business premise and is likely to be one of your largest business expenses. Needless to say, because of this, it is imperative that the basis of assessment upon which this tax is charged (i.e. the Rateable Value) should be checked and, if necessary, reduced to the lowest possible level.
